Yorkshire Ambulance Service thanks Ripon Landrover for 4x4s

24 February 2009

Ripon Land Rover has been thanked for providing off-road vehicles to help the ambulance service reach emergencies in the recent bad weather.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) was given the use of 22 4x4 Land Rover vehicles in the heavy snows of December and February so that they were able to reach patients in difficult to navigate places.

Mick Farmer, Assistant Director of Fleet for YAS said, “We are very grateful of the assistance given to us by Ripon Land Rover. Extra off-road vehicles proved to be extremely useful in the adverse weather conditions.

“YAS covers an urban and rural area of over 6,000 square miles and operates over vastly different terrain so we were able to deploy extra 4x4 vehicles where they were most needed. The back-up is part of our winter plan.”

Other organisations praised by YAS for their support during the severe winter weather were St John’s Ambulance and the county’s fell and mountain rescue teams.
