Information for the Media
We will always do our best to respond fully to your enquiries in a timely fashion, mindful of your deadlines.
In turn you can help us by giving us early notice of your stories or information requests. Please also bear in mind that, in common with all NHS bodies, we are bound by strict patient confidentiality rules. This means that under no circumstances can we provide any of the following information:
- patients' names
- patients' addresses
- any information that directly identifies a patient
- updates on a patient's condition further to the original 999 call.
More information (opens new window) about the rules governing patient confidentiality and access to patient information are published by the Department of Health.
In releasing information to the media, we always consider what is in the public interest. Where appropriate we will proactively issue a statement giving details of our attendance at an incident or contact media organisations in the affected locality. Please be aware, however, that we cannot usually respond to speculative enquiries about the destination or location of vehicles attending 999 emergency calls.
