Heart Rhythm Week - Your Heart in Your Hands

Heart Rhythm Week 3 - 9 June 2013About Heart Rhythm Week

From 01 - 07 June 2015 Arrhythmia Alliance will be holding its annual Heart Rhythm Week which gives everyone the opportunity to raise awareness and promote better understanding of heart rhythm disorders. This year's theme for Heart Rhythm Week is Hearts & Goals which aims to raise awareness of sudden cardiac arrest and of the life-saving difference a bystander can make to survival using CPR and an AED (automated external defibrillator).

Key message

  1. Sudden cardiac arrest is the UK’s biggest killer, claiming 100,000 lives each year.
  2. Following sudden cardiac arrest, early defibrillation is essential to restart the heart and CPR can keep the patient alive
  3. Prompt bystander assistance with defibrillation and CPR can increase the chance of sudden cardiac arrest survival from 5 to 50%
  4. Know the difference. Make a difference. Test your knowledge of cardiac arrest and the life-saving difference you can make. Take the Hearts & Goals challenge today…
