Single Equality Scheme
Single Equality Scheme (SES)
YAS is committed to equality and diversity, and plans to move from the Single Equality Scheme (SES) to the new NHS Equality Delivery System in April 2012. This SES aims to ensure a seamless transition for YAS in embedding equality and diversity into its core business.
What is the new Single Equality Scheme or SES?
SES is a statutory requirement for all public bodies and seeks views to identify priority needs, from patients, stakeholder partners and staff across the ‘protected characteristics’ (previously known as equality target groups). Protected characteristics include the following groups: age, disability, gender re-assignment, sexual orientation, religion and belief, sex, race, maternity and pregnancy, and marriage and civil partnerships.
We are keen to hear your views on how we can make our information, services and premises more inclusive and this is especially the case for seldom-heard communities. The SES also sets out our steps to legal compliance for all the ‘protected characteristics’. You can provide this information anonymously or by contacting:
The Equality Team, Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust, Springhill 2, Brindley Way, Wakefield 41 Business Park, Wakefield WF2 0XQ.
Email: equality@yas.nhs.uk
You can also take a few minutes to complete our SES Survey.
Our new Single Equality Scheme is now available on the YAS Document Library in the Equality and Diversity folder.
