Our Future Plans

Our vision is to provide an ambulance service which is continuously developing and delivering the highest level of patient care and services for our residents across Yorkshire.

Foundation Trust Consultation Clinical

To help us achieve this vision, we have started on a journey to become an NHS Foundation Trust. NHS Foundation Trusts are membership organisations that are free from central government control. This means that we will have a lot more freedom to shape the way that we provide and develop services for our patients.

We have set out some plans for how we would like to take the new organisation forward in the future, and have been consulting with staff and residents alike since September around these plans.

Our consultation is now closed and we are looking to share the results with residents in a few weeks time.

Get involved

As a Foundation Trust our decisions will be influenced by our ‘Members’, who will be made up of staff, patients and public from across Yorkshire.

Everyone who lives in Yorkshire and is over the age of 16 will be able to become a Member (membership is free). As a Member you will be to help us shape the way that we develop our services in the future and make sure that they really benefit your local community.

Tripartite formal agreement

A tripartite formal agreement (TFA) exists which confirms the commitments being made by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust, NHS Yorkshire and the Humber (Strategic Health Authority (SHA) and the Department of Health (DoH) that will enable achievement of NHS Foundation Trust (FT) status before April 2014.
