Yorkshire Ambulance Service’s NHS Pathways team recognised at Ambulance Leadership Forum Awards 2026
30 March 2026
The team responsible for the delivery on a new telephone triage system (NHS Pathways) in the emergency operations centre at Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust (YAS) has been recognised with a national award in the ‘Exceptional Team’ category at the Ambulance Leadership Forum (ALF) Awards 2026.
Hosted by the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives (AACE), the annual ALF Awards honour individuals who go above and beyond to improve ambulance services.
Responsible for implementing one of the largest and most complex transformation projects the Trust has undertaken, the team led the successful transition from the previous 999 call handling triage system to NHS Pathways. This required not only technical expertise but also exceptional collaboration, resilience, and commitment to patient care.
The team was recognised for its professional approach, dedication, empowerment, and a focus on improving patient outcomes, as well as embodying the Trust’s values. They not only delivered on the transformation project, but worked together effectively across many different services to solve problems, support colleagues and each other, and demonstrated how effective and successful teams should operate.
Claire Lindsay (Head of Service Delivery and Quality – Emergency Operations Centre (EOC)) and Rob Connell (Deputy Head of EOC) received the award on behalf of the team, from Jason Killens KAM, Chief Executive of London Ambulance Service.
ALF is a national ambulance sector event which, this year, focused on sustainability. YAS featured in a number of areas, with colleagues from across the Trust presenting on a range of topics including the role of urgent care paramedics in treating patients closer to home, the development of legislation for medicines in pre-hospital care, the implementation of eligibility in non-emergency patient transport, and health inequalities.
