Yorkshire Ambulance Service winner at Control Room Awards 2025

Congratulations go to Yorkshire Ambulance Service Associate Chief Operating Officer Julia Nixon who was awarded the prestigious Leader of the Year accolade at the annual Control Room Awards held in Hull on 3 July 2025.

Julia was nominated for her outstanding leadership and supporting colleagues to make a range of sustained improvements. Her clear vision for the future, ambitious plans to streamline call centre operations, continued enthusiasm to improve patient outcomes, and her compassionate, supportive and listening approach were all cited as key elements of her leadership.

Colleagues from across our Remote Patient Care (RPC) teams joined over 100 representatives from across the UK at the event to honour the outstanding professionalism, dedication, and compassion of people working behind the scenes in control rooms.

Our Remote Patient Care Team, which provides clinical triage and advice to patients over the phone when they call NHS 111, also made the final three in the Team of the Year category.
