Response to violent incidents

07 August 2024

Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust strongly condemns the incidents of violence, vandalism and racism that have been taking place across the country and in Yorkshire over the last week.

Our colleagues have been responding to these very challenging incidents alongside other emergency services and we would like to publicly thank them for their professionalism and dedication in the most difficult of circumstances.

Regrettably, we know that many of our colleagues have concerns for their safety in light of these events, particularly related to the deplorable acts of racism.

Our colleagues have a basic human right to feel safe, respected and valued and racism and discrimination of any form will not be tolerated. We strive to create a culture that values equality, diversity and inclusion, and will work with the police to ensure any offenders are prosecuted.

Arrangements are in place to support our colleagues so they can continue to provide the best possible service for our patients, and we are working alongside our partners and other emergency services to closely monitor the situation.
