Yorkshire Ambulance Service staff to take part in Pride events across the region this summer

31 May 2024

Staff from Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust (YAS) are excited to be joining the celebrations at three Pride events this year.

York Pride 2024 will take place first, on Saturday 1 June, which YAS colleagues will be attending for the fifth year running. YAS will show its support for the LGBT+ community by  joining community groups, charities, public sector organisations and businesses on the parade march which starts at York Minster and makes its way through the city centre, to the festival site on the Knavesmire.

YAS will also be taking part in Leeds Pride on Sunday 21 July, followed by Doncaster Pride on Saturday 10 August.

Amongst the YAS representatives at York will be Associate Ambulance Practitioner and Chair of the Pride@YAS Support Network Ryan Lee.

Ryan said: “We’re excited to be joining the upcoming Pride events in York, Leeds and Doncaster – it’s an opportunity to unite, support and celebrate our fantastic colleagues, and the wider LGBT+ community.

“YAS is proud to be a diverse employer and our Network, Pride@YAS, continues to be a beacon of support and inspiration as we apply initiatives within the Trust to make sure everyone, patient or colleague, feels they can bring their whole self to YAS.”

Adam Layland, Director of Partnerships and Operations (South Yorkshire), said: “We’re proud to be taking part in York Pride again this year, demonstrating how YAS supports all people from the LGBTQIA+ community, who often face health inequalities. Through attending Pride events we want all our communities to know that we are their ambulance service and that they should never fear seeking help from YAS.”
