Ambulance Vehicle Preparation Operative
Ambulance Vehicle Preparation (AVP) operatives are part of a dedicated team which prepares vehicles ready for our clinicians when they arrive at work to start their shift.
The service is operated by teams covering 24-hours a day/seven days a week to ensure that ambulance crews are able to access fully equipped, re-fuelled and re-stocked ambulances. This includes checking medical devices and medical consumables.
Team members go through an intensive training programme before they start with AVP. This covers cleaning and testing medical equipment and devices, infection prevention and control, health and safety and clinical consumables.
Essential requirements
- Good literacy and numerical skills in order to complete daily worksheets
- Ability to work individually or as part of a team

Career progression
Once you are an AVP operative, the main route for career progression would be to an AVP supervisor and other management positions. It also opens up opportunities in other areas of the organisation.
