COVID-19 – Our Response

Following the outbreak of coronavirus in the UK and the conveyance of our first patient in York on 30 January 2020, the demand on our services increased dramatically.

The response of our staff and volunteers has been exceptional and we continue to see our staff caring for patients in challenging circumstances.

Working practices had to alter significantly to support our three core service areas – A&E Operations, NHS 111 and Patient Transport Service – and protect our patients and staff in what was a rapidly evolving situation.

New national guidance on testing for professionals visiting care homes came into operation on 22 March 2021 and this document outlines the measures being taken by Yorkshire Ambulance Service to support the delivery of this.

Here we turn the spotlight on how the Trust has pulled together as ‘One Team’ in response to the pandemic.
