NHS Big Tea

You are invited to the NHS Big Tea

The Yorkshire Ambulance Service Charity is urging people across Yorkshire to join the nation’s biggest tea party on 5 July and help raise money for the incredible people in our NHS who have done so much to help everyone get through the pandemic.

Following a year like no other, the YAS Charity wants as many people as possible to get involved in a national outpouring of love and thanks for NHS staff and volunteers by hosting or taking part in the NHS Big Tea at 3pm on 5 July.

Each event can be in person or virtual, with the community, friends, family or work colleagues.

The YAS Charity has so far received £610,000 from the NHS Charities Together COVID-19 Urgent Appeal with further funding to come. It has been used to support colleagues in hardship due to COVID-19, created outdoor seating zones to enable social distancing, funded emotional resilience training and supported many other initiatives. A significant amount of the funding will go towards developing our volunteer workforce so they can respond to incidents like non-injury falls and free crews up to deal with more serious emergencies.

Dani Norman, YAS Charity Manager, said: “The YAS Charity has made a big impact over the past year due to our NHS Charities Together COVID 19 Appeal funding, but these funds are not going to last forever. We want to continue to make this difference to our YAS colleagues and patients.

“The NHS Big Tea is a celebration of the work all the NHS charities like ours do and by hosting a Big Tea you can help raise awareness and funds for the YAS Charity to help us to continue our support to NHS heroes at YAS.”

Ellie Orton, Chief Executive of NHS Charities Together, which is behind the NHS Big Tea, said: “Many of us have a lot to be grateful to NHS staff and volunteers for following the year we have had. They have been at the forefront of the response to one of the biggest challenges our country has ever faced. NHS Big Tea is chance to show our support for them by joining a national outpouring of thanks this July.

“For many, this will be an outpouring of joy, celebrating the vaccine and all that it is allowing us to do again. For others, it will be an outpouring of thanks, for everything that our NHS champions have done for us. For some, sadly, it will be a moment of reflection for the loss of loved ones. Whatever the emotion, please join the nation’s biggest tea break to raise money for the incredible people in our NHS.”
